Illustration from children's book 'Why Won't You Sleep,' featuring a scared looking monster in bed.

Featuring a frustrated monster narrator trying to persuade a child to go to sleep (and providing plenty of handy and increasingly desperate hints that don’t work), Why Won’t You Sleep has now been published in Spanish and Korean. It’s interesting seeing how the style of the book has changed in these new versions, especially the Korean one with its unique alphabet – I love how it becomes a beautiful graphic element in its own right. And the upside down Spanish question and exclamation marks, which I’m now remembering from long-ago Spanish at school.

Pero ¿por qué no te duermes? A question I ask myself often…
